How it reads
Herb Bouquet 460 is a mid-tone green from Benjamin Moore's Classics collection. The brand's description: "Moody sage undertones strike the right chord with this versatile green." Its LRV is 35.37, so it is a true mid-tone rather than a pale sage.
Its slight muddiness is the appeal. As one reader comment quoted on the Making Joy and Pretty Things blog puts it, the muddiness stops it looking too pastel. Benjamin Moore pairs it with Ballet White, Morning Dew, Bear Creek and Blue Note.
What Herb Bouquet is
Herb Bouquet is a muted green in Benjamin Moore's Classics collection, sitting in the brand's sage family. Benjamin Moore describes moody sage undertones and calls it versatile.
With an LRV of 35.37 it is a genuine mid-tone. It has enough depth to colour a room properly, without the weight of a dark green.
Why it doesn't look pastel
Plenty of sage greens turn minty or sweet on a large wall. Herb Bouquet's grey, slightly muddy quality is what prevents that: a reader quoted on the Making Joy and Pretty Things blog likes the muddiness because it doesn't look too pastel.
Benjamin Moore does not publish a warm or cool rating. Paint Color Consultants describes a calm, grounded feel, which suits rooms meant for sitting rather than working.
Where to use it
In the Greg Natale dining room on this page, photographed by Anson Smart, Herb Bouquet wraps the walls around a round table under a decorative plaster ceiling, with pink upholstered chairs.
Paint Color Consultants suggests bedrooms and studies. As a mid-tone it also works on cabinetry and panelling.
What it sits next to
Benjamin Moore pairs it with Ballet White OC-9 and Morning Dew OC-140 as lighter partners, with Bear Creek 1470 and Blue Note 2129-30 as deeper accents.
On this site, compare it with Calke Green, a deeper Farrow & Ball green, and Creekside Green.
