How it reads
Le Cygne — the swan — is a warm, matte ivory from the French house Ressource. It has the chalky, light-absorbing quality of old lime plaster, which is why it looks so at home on Haussmann paneling and ceiling roses: it softens the light rather than bouncing it around. Cream is present, yellow is not.
Because it is so matte and so gentle, Le Cygne lets color elsewhere in the room do the work — a mustard ottoman, a teal rug, a black marble mantel. It suits period rooms with plenty of daylight; in a dim modern box it can read a little flat.
What Ressource says about Le Cygne
Le Cygne is R238 in the French house Ressource's main Collection Ressource, subtitled 'Plume Orgueilleuse' (proud feather). Ressource files it among its white paints and describes it as an off-white, a 'blanc cassé', for interior or exterior use.
On its French site Ressource pairs Le Cygne with Saule Blanc AP05, Le Stratège R641 and its Paradis des Tropiques wallpaper. The brand also tells buyers to order a sample before committing, because screens and lighting change how the color reads.
Finishes, price and buying it in the US
Ressource's US site lists Le Cygne in eight finishes: Elegant Matte, Elegant Satin, Powder Matte, Matte Lacquer, Velvet Satin, Satin Lacquer, Glossy Lacquer and Floor Paint. In October 2026 it listed a liter of Elegant Matte at $33.50, with samples as a 100 mL jar ($10), an A7 card ($2) or an A4 board ($10).
In the US it is sold direct by Ressource through its New York showroom in the D&D Building. We did not find third-party US stockists.
Finish matters more than usual with this color: a European stockist notes that its appearance varies a lot by finish, so sample in the finish you intend to use.

What we do not know yet
Ressource does not publish an LRV or a hex value for Le Cygne that we could find. The swatch shown on this page is an on-screen approximation, not a brand figure, so treat it as a rough guide only.
We also found no independent designer or color-consultant review, and no verified equivalent from an American brand. If someone tells you it matches a Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams white, ask where that comes from. The honest route is a sample board in the finish you want, viewed over a full day.
