How it reads

Le Cygne — the swan — is a warm, matte ivory from the French house Ressource. It has the chalky, light-absorbing quality of old lime plaster, which is why it looks so at home on Haussmann panelling and ceiling roses: it softens the light rather than bouncing it around. Cream is present, yellow is not.

Because it is so matte and so gentle, Le Cygne lets color elsewhere in the room do the work — a mustard ottoman, a teal rug, a black marble mantel. It suits period rooms with plenty of daylight; in a dim modern box it can read a little flat.

Questions

Is Le Cygne available in the US?
Ressource is a French brand; distribution varies by country, so check the brand's stockist list. Wimborne White or Swiss Coffee are the closest widely available matches.
Does Le Cygne look yellow?
No. It is an ivory with warmth from cream rather than yellow, so it stays soft and neutral even in warm afternoon light.
