How it reads
Setting Plaster No. 231 is a dusty pink from Farrow & Ball, named after "the blushing walls we often admire in newly plastered houses". The brand says it is "definitely a pink in historic terms, but has a certain softness to it due to the inclusion of yellow pigment".
In the Marea Clark Interiors dressing room on this page, photographed by Stephanie Russo and styled by Lucy Bamman, it covers the built-in wardrobes and drawers as well as the walls.
What Setting Plaster is
Setting Plaster No. 231 is a dusty pink from Farrow & Ball, named after "the blushing walls we often admire in newly plastered houses". The brand calls it "definitely a pink in historic terms" softened by yellow pigment.
Farrow & Ball's Joa Studholme says it was designed to mimic unpainted walls, and that any room painted in it "somehow feels like it's giving you a great big hug". Lauren L Caron of Studio Laloc told Livingetc it is "the definition of a warm hug".
How it behaves in light
With an LRV in the mid-50s (third-party figures), it reflects a fair amount of light without reading as pale. Patrick O'Donnell of Farrow & Ball told Homes & Gardens it brings warmth to a north-facing space and knocks back to a gentle neutral in sun-drenched rooms.
Studholme calls it perfect for north-facing rooms because the yellow undertone warms them up.
Where to use it
In the Marea Clark Interiors dressing room on this page, photographed by Stephanie Russo, it covers the built-in wardrobes and drawers as well as the walls, with brass hardware against the pink.
Homes & Gardens calls it one of Farrow & Ball's most well-known pinks and a good choice for a pink scheme with an earthy feel. Farrow & Ball recommends it as a backdrop to antique furniture.
What it sits next to
Farrow & Ball lists School House White No. 291 as its complementary white, and Studholme pairs it with Dead Salmon, Tanner's Brown, Pink Ground and Card Room Green depending on how deep you want the scheme.
On this site, compare it with Templeton Pink, which Homes & Gardens places in the same plaster-pink category, and Dead Salmon, its deeper companion.
