How it reads
Southwest Pottery 048 is a deep clay red from Benjamin Moore's Classics collection, described by the brand as "a nuanced hue that captures the brown and red tones of kiln-fired clay". Its LRV is 16.56, so it is a properly deep colour.
It was named in Benjamin Moore's 2026 colour trends palette. In the Greg Natale rooms on this page, photographed by Anson Smart, it wraps a bedroom and its bathroom alongside green velvet, patterned wallpaper and marble.
What Southwest Pottery is
Southwest Pottery is a deep clay red in Benjamin Moore's Classics collection. The brand describes it as capturing the brown and red tones of kiln-fired clay, and lists an LRV of 16.56.
It appears in Benjamin Moore's 2026 colour trends palette, as Homes & Gardens reported alongside the brand's Colour of the Year announcement. House Digest notes an unexpected purple-ish undertone that calms the red.
How it behaves in light
Meg Hemmelgarn of The Paint Color Project says it can read deeper, slightly less warm and a bit more muted in north light, and that it might feel heavier at night.
In warm, bright light the brick and terracotta notes come forward. Because the LRV is low, expect it to absorb light rather than bounce it.
Where to use it
In the Greg Natale rooms on this page, photographed by Anson Smart, it wraps a bedroom and its ensuite, set against green velvet, patterned wallpaper, marble and brass. It shows how a deep earthy red can carry a maximalist scheme.
House Digest also suggests it as an accent wall. In a small or dim room, consider it on one wall or on joinery rather than all four walls.
What it sits next to
Benjamin Moore's coordinating colours are Marble White 942, Egyptian Sand 266, Cloud White OC-130 and Carrington Beige HC-93. Cloud White is the natural trim choice.
The Paint Color Project finds it lighter and more muted than Sherwin-Williams Bold Brick. On this site, compare it with Foxy Brown and Dead Salmon.
