How it reads

Vanillin SW 6371 is a warm, creamy white from Sherwin-Williams with an LRV of about 78. It has more pigment than a stark white, so it reads as a soft cream.

In the Studio Eidos Design rooms on this page, photographed by Sarah Crowley, it runs through a series of living spaces with fireplaces, warm wood and rich upholstery.

What Vanillin is

Vanillin SW 6371 is a warm, creamy white from Sherwin-Williams. Its LRV of about 78 puts it below the bright whites, so it reads as a soft cream on the wall.

Ashley Banbury of HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams, quoted in Good Housekeeping, says it has the perfect amount of pigment while still remaining a subtle backdrop.

How it behaves in light

Its yellow undertone means warm light makes it creamier and more golden. In cool north light a cream like this can look slightly flatter, but it will not turn cold the way a stark white can.

Sample it next to your trim white: against a crisp white it reads clearly cream, against a warmer white it reads as a soft white.

Where to use it

In the Studio Eidos Design rooms on this page, photographed by Sarah Crowley, it runs through living spaces with fireplaces, drapery, warm wood and saturated upholstery.

Banbury notes it pairs well with both warm and cool colours, which makes it a forgiving whole-house cream.

What it sits next to

Colour-matching sites commonly pair it with Creamy SW 7012 on trim, and with Marshmallow SW 7001 and Khaki Shade SW 7533.

On this site, compare it with Swiss Coffee and Shoji White, two softer, less yellow whites, and School House White.
