How it reads

Zen is a colour in Meoded's Concretta FS Microcement Plaster range, a mineral-based, lime- and cement-based plaster that is hand-troweled to a smooth matte finish with subtle movement.

In the Custom Nest Interior Design bathroom on this page, it wraps walls, vanity and shower in one seamless surface. Meoded says Concretta FS suits showers, tub surrounds and backsplashes once sealed.

What Zen is

Zen is a soft, warm white in Meoded's Concretta FS Microcement Plaster range. Concretta FS is a mineral-based, lime- and cement-based plaster that is mixed from powder and hand-troweled.

Meoded publishes no digital values for the range, so the swatch here is approximate, sampled from Meoded's own swatch image.

How the finish looks

Meoded describes a smooth matte finish with subtle movement. It is applied in two coats with a stainless rounded-edge trowel and can be sanded after 24 hours.

On a light colour like Zen the movement is gentle, giving walls a soft, stone-like surface rather than a flat paint finish.

Where to use it

Meoded says Concretta FS suits showers, tub surrounds, backsplashes, countertops and shower floors, and can be used inside and out. It can go over tile, drywall, plaster, cement, stone and marble.

In the Custom Nest Interior Design bathroom on this page, it wraps walls, an arched shower and a vanity in one seamless surface.

Before you commit

Wet areas must be waterproofed first and the plaster sealed: Meoded specifies PlasterGuard in three to four coats on walls, plus PlasterSeal Plus on floors and counters, after a 72-hour cure.

Coverage is roughly 14 to 20 square feet per gallon for two coats, so budget accordingly, and most people hire a plaster applicator.
