The difference

Read from the numbers

Moonlight is the lighter of the two at LRV 83.37, 9.7 points above Cascade White at LRV 73.71. Cascade White leans cool where Moonlight reads warm. Cascade White is a whites, Moonlight a yellows. For a whole room, Moonlight is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Cascade White is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Cascade White is a cool off-white with a blue-grey cast that is visible even on the chip. At LRV 74 it is bright enough to read as white across a room, but next to a warm white it is unmistakably tinted — the color of a cloud on a clear day. It is crisp, modern and a little Scandinavian.

Moonlight — now sold by Benjamin Moore under the name Sicilian Lemon, same number 2020-60 — is a pale, clear butter yellow with an LRV of 83. It is light enough to behave like a tinted white in a bright room and cheerful enough to make a north-facing one feel as if the sun came out.
