In real rooms

All things color, in your inbox.
Paint colors worth knowing, the rooms they live in, and where color is going — in design, fashion, and beyond. Free, and only when we have something to say.
How it reads
Foxy Brown is Benjamin Moore 1181, a mid-depth clay that the brand describes as "a soft clay hue that strikes a balance between red and brown." Benjamin Moore lists it with an LRV of 31.32, so it holds real depth on a wall without going dark, and in daylight it reads closer to terracotta than to chocolate.
Rachel Gedymin Design wrapped a bedroom in it, photographed by Nicholas Venezia: walls, drapery and a fluted headboard all sit in the same clay register, with a teal velvet chair and a plaid blanket for contrast. The warmth of the color carries across the whole room rather than being confined to one wall.
