How it reads
Grant Beige balances beige and grey in nearly equal measure — the textbook greige. A slight yellow-gold undertone adds warmth, while the grey content keeps it from ever reading sweet or sandy. It is the safe, sophisticated neutral that anchors a whole-home palette.
It holds its character across rooms and exposures, leaning warmer in lamplight and cooler under grey skies, but never swinging far. As a Historic Collection color it carries a quiet, timeworn quality that newer greiges often miss.
How Grant Beige behaves in different light
Benjamin Moore describes Grant Beige as 'an equal mix of gray and beige tones', and the consultants who have used it agree it is a true greige — with a caveat. Kylie M Interiors says 'yellow and green are definitely part of Grant Beige's foundation', and Rosenberry Rooms notes 'a minor green undertone, which gives it a soft, earthy feel'.
In a north-facing room that warmth is useful: Kylie M says warm colors like Grant Beige 'can help warm up a cold, north-facing room'. In a south-facing room or western afternoon sun it still works, but, she says, 'expect it to warm up considerably in these lights' — it leans yellow and creamy.
Outdoors, brick&batten finds the cooler side appears at the edges of the day: 'cooler tones will be more detectable during times of the day with less sunlight, such as blue hour, dawn, and dusk'. Its LRV of 55.81 makes it a light-mid neutral that needs reasonable light.
Walls, trim, cabinets and ceilings
Grant Beige is a wall color. Kylie M says it 'works well on interior walls, especially in open-concept spaces and bedrooms', and it is deep enough to read as a color against white trim without being dark.
Outdoors the two consultants part ways. brick&batten has used it 'as the central color on homes, as well as an accent color for trim, windows, and design features like porticos and columns'; Kylie M says it 'can work with some exteriors, but not many', because its yellow-green undertone clashes with many common stone and brick colors.
It is not used on trim or ceilings, where a white belongs.

Benjamin Moore's coordinating colors for Grant Beige are Floral White OC-29, Steam AF-15, Kendall Charcoal HC-166 and Bronze Tone 2166-30. For trim, Kylie M recommends Cloud White OC-130, White Dove OC-17, Simply White OC-117 or Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa SW 7551; Rosenberry Rooms suggests Floral White on woodwork and moldings.
It is at home with dark stained wood, natural stone and, brick&batten says, gray-greens and green-browns. Its relatives are Manchester Tan HC-81, which is lighter and which Kylie M calls more popular and more flexible; Bleeker Beige HC-80; Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige SW 7036; and Jogging Path SW 7638, which is darker.
Benjamin Moore lists Inner Balance 1522, Coastal Fog 976, Natural Linen 966 and Bleeker Beige HC-80 as similar.
Where Grant Beige fails
It fails in low light. Kylie M warns that in a room with little natural light 'Grant Beige could look dingy or flat'.
It fails against the wrong stone or brick. Its yellow-green undertone, she says, 'can be a bit off with some of the popular stone and brick colors', which is why she is cautious about it outdoors.
And it can go too warm. In strong south or west light it warms considerably and the beige becomes creamy yellow; if you want a greige that stays gray, Manchester Tan or a cooler greige is safer.
