The difference

Read from the numbers

Alabaster is the lighter of the two at LRV 82.215, 8.5 points above Cascade White at LRV 73.71. Cascade White leans cool where Alabaster reads warm. Both belong to the white family. For a whole room, Alabaster is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Cascade White is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Cascade White is a cool off-white with a blue-grey cast that is visible even on the chip. At LRV 74 it is bright enough to read as white across a room, but next to a warm white it is unmistakably tinted — the color of a cloud on a clear day. It is crisp, modern and a little Scandinavian.

Alabaster (SW 7008) is a soft, creamy white with a faint beige-yellow undertone — warm enough to feel inviting, clean enough to still read as white. At LRV 82 it brightens a room without the starkness of a true white.
