The difference

Read from the numbers

Spoonful of Sugar is the lighter of the two at LRV 20.98, 11 points above Cherry Cola at LRV 10. Both read warm. Cherry Cola is a red, Spoonful of Sugar a orange. For a whole room, Spoonful of Sugar is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Cherry Cola is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Cherry Cola is a deep reddish brown from Dunn-Edwards' Perfect Palette accents — the color of the drink held up to the light, with burnt sienna underneath. At LRV 10 it is dark, saturated and enormously flattering to books, brass and patterned fabric.

Do not let the name fool you — Spoonful of Sugar is a deep, saturated caramel-terracotta, not a pastel. With an LRV of 21 it is a real color with real weight, and in a high-gloss lacquer it becomes something else entirely: a warm, glowing envelope that turns a library or dining room into a jewel box.
