The difference

Read from the numbers

Alabaster is the lighter of the two at LRV 82.215, 23.6 points above Pelican Gray at LRV 58.58. Pelican Gray leans cool where Alabaster reads warm. Pelican Gray is a gray, Alabaster a white. For a whole room, Alabaster is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Pelican Gray is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Pelican Gray is a light, silvery grey with a clear blue lean — cooler than the greiges that dominated the last decade, and all the better for it. At LRV 59 it is light enough for a small room and grey enough to feel deliberate. It is the grey of a slate roof after rain.

Alabaster (SW 7008) is a soft, creamy white with a faint beige-yellow undertone — warm enough to feel inviting, clean enough to still read as white. At LRV 82 it brightens a room without the starkness of a true white.
