The difference

Read from the numbers

Pine Frost is the lighter of the two at LRV 65.148, 17.7 points above Late Wheat at LRV 47.41. Pine Frost leans cool where Late Wheat reads warm. Pine Frost is a green, Late Wheat a yellow. For a whole room, Pine Frost is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Late Wheat is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Pine Frost is a pale, frosted green that reads almost as a tinted white in bright light and as a soft silvery sage in shade. At LRV 65 it is light enough for a whole bedroom yet has enough pigment to feel like a decision. There is no sweetness in it — the grey keeps it cool and quiet.

Late Wheat is a muted golden yellow with enough tan and green in it to stay quiet — the color of a field in September rather than a lemon. At LRV 47 it sits mid-tone, so on cabinetry it reads as a real color without ever shouting, and it has none of the acidity that makes most yellows hard to live with.
