The difference

Read from the numbers

Extra White is the lighter of the two at LRV 86, 31 points above Revere Pewter at LRV 55.05. Revere Pewter leans warm where Extra White reads cool. Revere Pewter is a beige, Extra White a white. For a whole room, Extra White is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Revere Pewter is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Revere Pewter (HC-172) is Benjamin Moore's iconic greige — a warm gray-beige with a soft olive-green undertone. At LRV 55.5 it's slightly deeper than the popular Sherwin-Williams greiges, giving it more presence on a wall.

Extra White is a bright, slightly cool white — the closest Sherwin-Williams gets to a gallery wall. At LRV 86 it is crisp and reflective, with a faint blue-grey lean that keeps it clean rather than creamy. It is the white for architecture: plaster reliefs, coffered ceilings, a bank of steel windows.
