The difference

Read from the numbers

Gray Envelope is the lighter of the two at LRV 64, 9 points above Revere Pewter at LRV 55.05. Both read warm. Both belong to the beige family. For a whole room, Gray Envelope is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Revere Pewter is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Revere Pewter (HC-172) is Benjamin Moore's iconic greige — a warm gray-beige with a soft olive-green undertone. At LRV 55.5 it's slightly deeper than the popular Sherwin-Williams greiges, giving it more presence on a wall.

Gray Envelope is a light, warm greige from Behr's Designer Collection — Behr likens it to 'wrapping yourself in a light woolen shawl' and files it, tellingly, under yellow. At LRV 64 it is bright enough for large spaces and warm enough to feel welcoming.
