The difference

Read from the numbers

Sea Salt is the lighter of the two at LRV 63.233, 15.8 points above Late Wheat at LRV 47.41. Sea Salt leans cool where Late Wheat reads warm. Sea Salt is a green, Late Wheat a yellow. For a whole room, Sea Salt is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Late Wheat is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Sea Salt is a soft green-grey that changes its mind with the light: green in a sunny room, blue-grey in a shaded one. At LRV 63 it is light enough for a whole room and quiet enough to live with for years, which is why it has become a modern classic for bedrooms and bathrooms.

Late Wheat is a muted golden yellow with enough tan and green in it to stay quiet — the color of a field in September rather than a lemon. At LRV 47 it sits mid-tone, so on cabinetry it reads as a real color without ever shouting, and it has none of the acidity that makes most yellows hard to live with.
