The difference

Read from the numbers

Extra White is the lighter of the two at LRV 86, 2.6 points above Sicilian Lemon at LRV 83.37. Sicilian Lemon leans warm where Extra White reads cool. Sicilian Lemon is a yellow, Extra White a white. For a whole room, Extra White is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Sicilian Lemon is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Sicilian Lemon is Benjamin Moore 2020-60, the colour formerly sold as Moonlight. Benjamin Moore renamed it, so older chips and brochures may still say Moonlight, but the number is the same. It is a pale, clear butter yellow with an LRV of 83. It is light enough to behave like a tinted white in a bright room and cheerful enough to make a north-facing one feel as if the sun came out.

Extra White is a bright, slightly cool white — the closest Sherwin-Williams gets to a gallery wall. At LRV 86 it is crisp and reflective, with a faint blue-grey lean that keeps it clean rather than creamy. It is the white for architecture: plaster reliefs, coffered ceilings, a bank of steel windows.
