The difference

Read from the numbers

Cherry Cola is the lighter of the two at LRV 10, 2.5 points above Preference Red at LRV 7.54. Both read warm. Both belong to the red family. For a whole room, Cherry Cola is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Preference Red is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Cherry Cola is a deep reddish brown from Dunn-Edwards' Perfect Palette accents — the color of the drink held up to the light, with burnt sienna underneath. At LRV 10 it is dark, saturated and enormously flattering to books, brass and patterned fabric.

Preference Red No. 297 is a Baroque red that Farrow & Ball calls the deepest and richest of its reds. It is named after Preference Paints, the company's original trade name.
