Settled, side by side

Coat of Arms is a deep, grey-tempered teal — blue enough to anchor a room the way a navy would, green enough to feel alive against wood, brass and raffia. At LRV 14.7 it is a genuinely dark color, and that darkness is where its elegance lives: it recedes, it flatters everything placed against it, and it never looks like a color that is trying.

Jacket is a Portola Roman Clay in a deep charcoal-brown — a black with the hardness taken out. Because Roman Clay is troweled on, the surface is never uniform: it shifts between soot and warm ash across a wall, with a soft, suede-like depth that no flat paint can match.
