The difference

Read from the numbers

Shoji White is the lighter of the two at LRV 74, 19 points above Revere Pewter at LRV 55.05. Both read warm. Revere Pewter is a beige, Shoji White a white. For a whole room, Shoji White is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Revere Pewter is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Revere Pewter (HC-172) is Benjamin Moore's iconic greige — a warm gray-beige with a soft olive-green undertone. At LRV 55.5 it's slightly deeper than the popular Sherwin-Williams greiges, giving it more presence on a wall.

Shoji White is a warm off-white with a greige base — a little grey, a little pink, no yellow. At LRV 74 it is soft rather than bright, and it has the quality of light through a paper screen: even, warm, forgiving. It is the white for people who find true whites cold and creams too sweet.
