The difference

Read from the numbers

Stonington Gray is the lighter of the two at LRV 59.36, 47.7 points above Deep Secret at LRV 11.64. Both read cool. Both belong to the gray family. For a whole room, Stonington Gray is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Deep Secret is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Stonington Gray is a light gray that Benjamin Moore describes as silvery, with relatively neutral undertones. On a wall it is cooler than that description suggests: a blue undertone shows in north-facing or cool light and relaxes in warm light. At LRV 59 it is light enough for a small room and gray enough to read as a color against white trim.

Deep Secret is a dark charcoal grey with a clear blue undertone — Benjamin Moore files it in the blue family and calls it 'your new favorite gray'. It comes from the Color Stories collection, whose full-spectrum formulas shift more with the light than standard paints.
