The difference

Read from the numbers

Both read warm. Sudbury Yellow is a yellow, Clay a beige.

How they read

In their own words

Sudbury Yellow is an ochre-gold named for the staircase at Sudbury Hall in Derbyshire — a yellow with enough earth in it to feel historic rather than sunny. It is warm, saturated and surprisingly easy to live with, because the ochre keeps it from ever turning acid.

Clay is a Little Greene mid-stone neutral with more ochre than its predecessors — warm, sandy and quietly elegant. It is the colour of dried river clay: not quite beige, not quite yellow.
