The difference

Read from the numbers

Gray Owl is the lighter of the two at LRV 64.51, 57.5 points above Viridian Odyssey at LRV 7. Both read cool. Viridian Odyssey is a blue, Gray Owl a gray. For a whole room, Gray Owl is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Viridian Odyssey is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Viridian Odyssey is a deep teal that reads almost black until light touches it, and then it reveals an inky blue-green with real depth. At LRV 7 it is one of the darkest colors in the library — a genuine envelope color for panelling, cabinetry and rooms meant to feel like the inside of a jewel box.

Gray Owl OC-52 is Benjamin Moore's "use-anywhere light gray with a cool, crisp cast". It is in the Off-White Collection, and the same colour also appears in the brand's Color Preview range as 2137-60. Its LRV is 64.51.
