The difference

Read from the numbers

Coat of Arms is the lighter of the two at LRV 14.74, 3.1 points above Deep Secret at LRV 11.64. Both read cool. Deep Secret is a gray, Coat of Arms a blue. For a whole room, Coat of Arms is the safer, more forgiving choice thanks to its higher LRV, while Deep Secret is the bolder pick.

How they read

In their own words

Deep Secret is a dark charcoal grey with a clear blue undertone — Benjamin Moore files it in the blue family and calls it 'your new favorite gray'. It comes from the Color Stories collection, whose full-spectrum formulas shift more with the light than standard paints.

Coat of Arms is a deep, gray-tempered teal — blue enough to anchor a room the way a navy would, green enough to feel alive against wood, brass and raffia. At LRV 14.7 it is a genuinely dark color, and that darkness is where its elegance lives: it recedes, it flatters everything placed against it, and it never looks like a color that is trying.
